Marvel is a blacksmith living in Silvie's Mine. She owns a smithy and shop called "Marvelous Metalworks" and is a descendant of the orc who built the tunnel system.
Background[]
The Orcson family has been present in the mines since it was first named; in fact, Marvel's great-grandmother was affiliated with Silvie (of "Silvie's Mine"). Marvel inherited the shop when her father Orcson retired. It used to be called "Orcson's Smithy" but he insisted she change the name.
Personality[]
Young Marvel wanted to travel and explore the world, but her responsibilities to the shop and her family got in the way. Some of the things she wanted to do were "ride a pirate ship," "meet a spirit," and "play with a mermaid". She has a very imaginative personality, even if now she mainly sticks to her shop duties.
Relationships[]
Pascal is Marvel's errand boy. She gets frustrated with him a lot, though he also reminds her of herself when she was younger. To quote: "A pain in the butt."
Marvel and Magdalene used to be best friends before Magdalene moved away from the mines. She gave Marvel her first lantern on her fifteen birthday to help her on mining expeditions. They still keep in touch through letters.
Marvel's parents are retired and currently travels the world together. She has a younger brother who helps with the shop now and then. He's known to get sick easily, most likely from the bad air in the mines.
Chance Machine[]
Some of the items that Marvel wears can be found in her Chance Machine, "Marvelous Metalworks," along with an assortment of other items.
One spin costs 600
. Every 6,000 potatoes spent in this shop will let you pick one item for free from the pool of bonus prizes.

Affection Milestones[]
Marvel will send you letters after reaching certain Affection milestones.
| Milestone | Rewards | Letter |
|---|---|---|
| 300 Affection |
Hey there world-hopper, I was cleaning up around the shop the other day and found myself wondering how you were doing. You’re plenty more responsible than Pascal, but then again that’s not saying much. Show your face around the shop sometime so I know you’re getting by alright. Not much to report here, business as usual. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll take steady work over a spike in orders any day if it means I can get a solid night’s rest. You make sure to get enough sleep too. Marvel | |
| 500 Affection |
Hey, world-hopper, Would you mind swinging by at some point soon? Pascal that rascal child has wandered off and I wouldn't mind a pair of helping hands. You'll be fairly compensated, of course. Bring a kerchief against the dust, too. Marvel | |
| 800 Affection |
Hey there world-hopper, Feels like I just saw you the other day, but I sat down to write my letters this week and your face popped into my head. Guess that's a sign that you've been making a real difference around here. Maybe I'll promote you to blacksmith's apprentice and show you a thing or two about smelting something. Of course, that's only if you're interested. I know that not everyone is keen to break a sweat over a furnace. I included another care package with this letter. I know you can probably take care of yourself, but you haven't got a family or hometown here. I bet it's tough. Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. You may not have family here, but you've got good friends in Silvie's Mine. Marvel | |
| 1,100 Affection |
Hey there world-hopper, How’s the weather where you are? We had some nice sun today, so I went for a little stroll around the mountains. You know that we actually got a load of wildflowers that bloom up here? You wouldn’t know it from working in the mines all day but when you go topside, there’s some real pretty flowers growing in even the rockiest places. Sort of sounds like you world-hoppers, huh? You got thrown into a crazy situation but you still wake up every morning and keep on trucking. I gotta say, I like that about you. Well, that’s enough poetry from me. Hope you’re getting some good sun too. Take care. Marvel | |
| 1,500 Affection |

Hey world-hopper, I’ve got a puzzling story for you today. I’m no stranger to gems, but recently I came across a bizarre little rock. I say “came across” because I haven’t got the foggiest recollection of digging this one up myself. My brother says he’s never seen it before either. The real mystery is that I can’t identify it. It’s not quite a garnet, and not quite a ruby... And this causes some issues because if I don’t know what it is, I can’t exactly put a price on it. But it’s still a lovely stone, so I’ve decided to make it a gift to you. The shop wouldn’t be where it is today without your help and I want to show my appreciation. Besides, I think the gem will suit you. Anyway, I’ve thrown in a couple extras with your gem, but don’t worry about paying any of this back. You’re a dear friend and it’s my own business if I want to spoil you sometimes. Looking forward to seeing you soon, Marvel |
| Player Birthday (300 Affection) |
Hey there world-hopper, Heard through the grapevine that it was your birthday, so I'd thought I'd send over a little something. Hope it finds some good use. If you're ever in the neighborhood, swing by the shop and I'll put on some tea for you. Marvel |
| Milestone | Rewards | Letter |
|---|---|---|
| -400 Affection |
World-hopper, You world-hoppers, always stirring up a ruckus. Don't take any more cues from Pascal, he'll only lead you astray. Marvel | |
| -900 Affection |
World-hopper, And what did I tell you about bad examples? Don't follow any, and certainly don't set any yourself. Might be you're genuinely trying to be helpful, but you've been more of a nuisance than not. Get yourself together, kid. Marvel | |
| -1,500 Affection |
World-hopper, Nothing I can do when you keep being stubborn, but I'd thank you to give me a wide berth from here on out. One last word of advice: slow down, yeah? You'll find people much happier to see you if you slowed down and actually listen to what they have to say. Running around causing trouble like this doesn't make you a lovable rascal, it just makes you rude. Marvel |
